Blundr Terms of Service
Last updated: August 31, 2026
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your access to and use of Blundr, including blundr.io and any Blundr applications, features, training tools, subscriptions, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). By creating an account, accessing the Service, or otherwise accepting these Terms, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
The operator of Blundr is identified in the Legal Notice available from the Service footer (the “Operator,” “Blundr,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
1. Eligibility and age
You must be at least 16 years old, or the higher minimum age required to use an online service without parental consent where you live. The standard Blundr launch flow is not available to children under 16.
If you are old enough to use Blundr but are not legally able to enter a binding agreement where you live, a parent or legal guardian must review and agree to these Terms on your behalf. To start a paid subscription or free trial yourself, you must have legal authority to enter the subscription contract and to use the payment method. A parent or legal guardian may purchase a subscription for an eligible minor where permitted by law.
If we learn that an account was created in violation of this section, we may restrict or close the account and delete associated personal data as required by law.
2. Your account
You must provide accurate information, keep your sign-in credentials secure, and promptly notify us at support@blundr.io if you believe your account has been compromised. You are responsible for activity performed through your account to the extent permitted by law. You may not sell, transfer, or commercially share your account.
3. What Blundr provides
Blundr is a chess training and educational service. Features may include opening training, assisted and plain training modes, continuation play, Daily Blundr practice, review queues, repertoire tools, mastery and progress information, daily rings, streaks, rewards, and minigames.
Blundr is designed to help you practice chess. It does not guarantee any rating increase, tournament result, competitive outcome, or particular level of improvement.
4. Fair play
Blundr is a training tool, not a means to obtain prohibited assistance during live play. You may not use the Service in a manner that violates the fair-play rules of a chess platform, tournament organizer, federation, league, school, or other competition. You are responsible for knowing and following the rules that apply to games you play.
5. License to use the Service
Subject to these Terms, Blundr grants you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for lawful, non-commercial chess training and personal use.
You may not, except where applicable law expressly permits it: bypass access controls or subscription limits; obtain unauthorized access to another user’s account or data; scrape or systematically extract Service content; interfere with security or operation; introduce malware; use automated means that materially burden the Service; resell or sublicense the Service; remove proprietary notices; or reverse engineer the Service for the purpose of creating a competing commercial service.
Nothing in this section restricts rights that applicable law does not allow us to restrict, including lawful security research or interoperability rights where applicable.
6. Chess data and content you provide
You retain ownership of content and chess data you provide to Blundr, such as repertoire choices, imported games, positions, annotations, preferences, and support messages, to the extent you own that material.
You grant Blundr a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, copy, process, transform, display, and otherwise use that material only as reasonably necessary to provide, secure, operate, troubleshoot, personalize, and improve the Service and to comply with law. This license ends when the material is deleted from our active systems, except to the extent retention is legally required, technically necessary in limited backups, or the material has been aggregated or de-identified so that it no longer identifies you.
You must have the right to provide any content you submit.
7. Blundr intellectual property
The Service, including its software, visual design, original text, training presentation, branding, artwork, and other Blundr-created material, is owned by or licensed to Blundr and is protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms do not transfer ownership of the Service to you.
Chess moves, standard chess notation, public-domain chess facts, and third-party material remain subject to their own legal status and ownership.
Third-party names, services, and trademarks are the property of their respective owners. References to a third party do not imply endorsement unless expressly stated.
8. Feedback
If you voluntarily send ideas, suggestions, or feedback about Blundr, you allow us to use that feedback without restriction or payment to improve and operate the Service. This does not transfer ownership of any separate copyrighted work you submit unless we agree otherwise in writing.
9. Free and Pro access
Blundr may offer Free and Pro access. Current plan features and prices are displayed before purchase and may also appear on the Pricing page. Pro subscriptions and free trials are governed by the Subscription Terms, which are incorporated into these Terms.
We may change Free-tier limits or plan features prospectively. We will not retroactively charge you for a Free feature without your express agreement to a paid offer.
10. Third-party services
Blundr relies on service providers for functions such as hosting, authentication, data storage, payment processing, security, email, diagnostics, and chess computation. Your use of a separate third-party service may also be governed by that provider’s terms. Blundr is not responsible for independent third-party services outside our control, subject to rights that applicable consumer law gives you against us.
11. Service availability and changes
We work to keep Blundr reliable, but the Service may occasionally be unavailable because of maintenance, outages, security incidents, updates, or circumstances beyond our reasonable control. We may add, change, or discontinue features. If a change materially reduces a paid subscription during a prepaid period, we will provide the remedy required by applicable law and, where appropriate, a reasonable pro-rated refund or equivalent remedy.
12. Suspension and termination
You may stop using Blundr at any time and may delete your account through the available account controls or by contacting support@blundr.io.
We may restrict or suspend access where reasonably necessary to address fraud, abuse, security threats, unlawful activity, non-payment, material violations of these Terms, or risks to other users or the Service. When reasonably possible, we will provide notice and an opportunity to correct the issue before permanent termination, unless immediate action is necessary for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or protection of users.
Closing an account does not automatically erase payment, tax, fraud-prevention, security, or other records that we must lawfully retain. Personal-data handling after closure is described in the Privacy Policy.
13. Consumer rights and warranties
The Service is provided with the level of care and conformity required by applicable law. Except for warranties, guarantees, and rights that cannot legally be excluded, the Service is provided on an “as available” basis and we do not promise uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, or a particular chess outcome.
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or waives any mandatory warranty, guarantee, refund right, cooling-off right, statutory remedy, or other consumer protection that applies to you.
14. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Blundr is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, or consequential losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when you accepted these Terms.
For claims for which liability may legally be limited, Blundr’s aggregate liability arising from the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) US $100 and (b) the amount you paid Blundr for the Service during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
These limits do not apply to liability that applicable law does not allow us to exclude or limit, including liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, willful misconduct, or death or personal injury caused by negligence where such liability cannot be limited.
15. Complaints and disputes
Please contact support@blundr.io first so we can try to resolve a problem promptly. Nothing in these Terms requires you to arbitrate, waive a class action, or give up a forum or remedy that mandatory law makes available to you.
The law applicable to these Terms and the courts available to resolve a dispute will be determined under applicable law, including mandatory consumer rules and conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, these Terms do not deprive you of mandatory protections or the right to bring a claim in a court or dispute-resolution forum made available by the law of your habitual residence.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect changes to the Service, law, security, or business operations. We will give reasonable advance notice of material changes when required by law. If a change requires renewed consent, we will ask for it before the change applies to you. The “Last updated” date identifies the current version.
17. General terms
If a provision of these Terms is unenforceable, it will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted and the remaining provisions will remain effective. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms in a way that transfers your account without our consent. We may assign these Terms as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of the Service, subject to applicable law and notice requirements.
